The U.S. Port of Chicago is on the south side of Chicago near the southern end of Lake Michigan.
Facts:
The Port of Chicago has a number of facilities within it. This includes:
- Calumet Lake Terminal
- (mainly petroleum, chemicals, cement, iron, and sugar);
- Iroquois Landing Terminal
- (mainly handles steel, iron and lumber products).
- The main area of the Port District is Calumet Harbor.
- The port handles annual total tonnage of over 19 million tons.
- The port can be accessed from the Atlantic Ocean via the St. Lawrence River and the Great Lakes.
